2024 Phil Lowe Maker’s Challenge Winner Society of American Period Furniture
An elaborately decorated traditional federal style card table made of solid Central American mahogany with Ceylon satinwood, rosewood, ebony, figured mahogany and holly. I added a secret drawer in the back rail to store cards. The design of the veneer and inlay is my own but inspired by many historical pieces. The hardware is solid brass.
Second Place, Best Traditional Piece | 2024 New England Woodworking Competition
Queen Anne Solid Walnut bench with Shell Carvings. This mortise and tenon bench was made to sit at the foot of a bed. The four knee and two rail shell carvings as well as the leg shaping is all done by hand. It was also upholstered by my hand.
First Place, Best Technical Detail | 2023 New England Woodworking Competition
Quilted Maple Tea Caddy Jewelry Box. The exterior of this box is modeled after a federal tea caddy but the interior has been transformed into a more useful jewelry box. The box is solid instrument grade quilted maple with holly and ebony details. The hardware is solid brass.
Second Place, Best Contemporary Piece, Expert 2025 New England Woodworking Competition
Cherry and birdseye maple tripod table of my own design. The fanciful asymmetrical inlaid design on the top of circles bursting from within holly stringing lines was created to express happiness about a positive event in my family life. The legs have solid curly maple cuffs that accentuate the leg design
Second Place, Contemporary Piece | 2023 New England Woodworking Competition
Walnut Jewelry Box. The exterior of this box is in the shape of a federal tea caddy but it has been given a decidely modern makeover in its decoration. The box is solid figured walnut with curly maple and holly details. The hardware is solid brass.
